The choice of dome / sleeve affects the frequency response of the hearing aid, so you should use the same domes as were originally selected by your hearing care professional!
The open dome has special ventilation holes. This avoids the occlusion effect, while providing an open feeling in the ear canal. Open domes are best for mild hearing loss, as the sound is clearer and less intense than with other types. The use of domes makes fitting the hearing aids extremely quick and convenient. Phonak recommends replacing your domes monthly (or when they become stiff or brittle) to maintain optimal performance and sound quality.
